Happy New Year! And update…
A very Happy New Year to everyone! I wish you peace, togetherness and much, much love.
I’m just now finishing writing the last of the original tunes to be used on the album with producer, Don Mizell. We had a wonderful meeting to discuss many details of sound, look and feel. Don has this glow about him… he lets the visions come in without questioning and knows how to trust what he sees. Before all the business talk, he said we have nothing if we don’t have a damn, good album that’s going to inspire others. There were a couple of times in the meeting that my eyes welled up and that was definitely one of them. We’ll be going into the studio very soon.

Can’t wait to hear the new tunes! So exciting!!!
You inspire by your presence alone.
I meant all the sentimental drivel i wrote about the coming sessions. Let yourself go, fear not the Mental Nica Monster: I think the world is ready and waiting. And take a good luck charm: whatever that first thing musical in your life was, whatever made you want to expose yourself so much:) Take that thing with you into the studio for luck.
I cannot wait, and all my hopes and belief go with you.
I’m posting here because i wanted it on record: Fireflies is simply one of the best house records ever made, period. Nica, you blew every other vocalist in the game off the stage, do you realize that? I mean, to these ears it’s a quantum leap, exactly the kind of musicality married to a stylized vocal that I had been waiting for and thought maybe Monique Bingham or Robina might bring us in a flash of great luck. But you did it in discernible steps over the last three years working with great collaborators who cared about the melody and the feeling of “song” as much as the beats and the hooks. My most sincere appreciation to you and Ollie for a groundbreaking and stunning record that makes me proud to call myself a fan of deep house music, Nica Brooke, and now Ollie Brooke!
And of course the mixers all reveal different and captivating dimensions of your performance in such a way that I’m still wrestling to call any mix my favorite! Please tell all of them they have a loving tribute on this page no matter what happens with the record. On my own mp3 player, I’ve playlisted it with some stuff I consider to be pretty fierce, and it’s leaping above them all to make my spine tingle! I think a few of the greatest DJ’s are bound to come to the same conclusion: it’s a classic.
VERY NICE WORK!
cheers

Wow! That’s cool Ted, glad you’re digging it so much and I’m proud to have been able to build a vehicle for Nica’s voice that has inspired you so much!
